Scotty Frightens Big Guns

Scott Morland who at best this season has been inconsistent and at times abysmal went to Silksworth to play singles against internationals, EBA Champions and altogether class bowlers frightens the locals. After making it through 3 rounds to the semi-finals in a battle for £700 he had already included good wins against Gary Smith and [...]

Woodland Opener in Sherwood

The Friday night season starts with a home tie to Woodland which will see the return of larger than life Stan Jenkins to South Park.
The league looks more interesting this year with varied opposition, sadly this includes the long trek to Barnard Castle (which we all hate), still its nice to have a new challenge in this league especially when the Darlington & District League looks a little dour this year down in the 3rd Division.
In the Sherwood League Knock-Out we make a return trip to Woodland which at their green isnt an east task however would be disappointed not to progress with our youthful team.

Sent to Dairy Lane

It has been confirmed that Sam Pattison and Scott Morland will travel away in the National Mixed Pairs to Houghton Dairy Lane. For Scott this is a venue with many mixed emotions, having many ups and down for County and also having his worst and best performances many years ago in his EBA Junior Singles Semi-Finals.

Sam and Scott lost here to the same opponents (Armstrong and Morgan) on their last National Mixed Pairs visit to Dairy Lane. They must work hard to follow up their home victory against them last season. This opposition on both occasions proved to be tough and on both home advantage was all that seperated the 2 teams.

EBA Draw Arrived!

The EBA draw has landed (yet again not to the club secretary to his dismay lol).
The 1st Round of the 4 Bowl Singles is a little disappoining as our 2 competitors has been drawn against each other. Barry Hopkins Jnr will face Scott Morland. The winner will face a home draw to either Craig Northam of Darlington RA or Vic Tunstall from Hundens Park.
The 1st Round of the pairs has been kind as both rinks have hom draws Barry Hopkins rink face a very tricky tie with John Fielding of Darlington RA where Scott Morland faces a less fearful draw against Les Parnell of Stockton BC.
We have 1 rink in the triples lead by Barry Hopkins that has a home draw to R. Carson of Elm Tree Bowls Club. Elm Tree os a bit of an unknown quantity to our players as they don’t feature in any of leagues but am sure it will be a tough test.
The 2 bowl singles only has 1 entry of Scott Morland and he faces an interesting task away to Keith Burton of Darlington RA. As an ex-South Park man this will be a keenly contested game – if the right Scott Morland turns up it could be a cracker.

Fixture Release

In the Darlington & District League we will host South Park Vets in the 1st Division 3 fixture. Thats likely to be a feisty 1st fixture and if we are able to field a full strength squad could we could get our season off to a flyer.
In the Durham & District League we face a tricky trip to relegated Witton Gilbert, always a tricky place to go, to come away with anything more than 4 points would be classed as a good start.
